I shot this picture over and over again, and this is absolutely the best I can do, because it is in the original mint bag, and reflects light no matter what angle. My 1970 D just came and it looks pretty good. High grade MS? Looks it to me. A 65???
See, that is the problem. That is a crease in the bag. No gouge there in real life. No way it isn't a 64 at minimum. To me more likely higher. Those are creases in the mint bag, and it is impossible to get a better picture--I tried, due to the mint bag.
Take it out of the mint cello and photograph it. You'll have to in order to get it graded anyway. Sheesh!
It's very nice. Looks to be in the 99th %ile or so if the picture is accurate. I don't think the shallow scrape on the chin will stop it from a 65. Tough call though.
I see some marks on the cheek, but I don't think the rim hit is substantial enough to affect the grade. I see it as a 64. I don't know why you're leaving it in the plastic. The OGP went right out the door when somebody cut the set up. Chris
I know that I would have to take it out to submit--I have submitted over 1000 coins to TPGs. I just want it to stay in the bag and tone some more if it isn't a 65. If it were 65 or over, the value shoots right up. Think I will leave it in the bag--thanks folks. Consensus puts it at a 64, and that is fine, but I won't bother submitting.
I would get it out of that cellophane and rinse in acetone to get rid of the haze developing. One of the ones that is worth submitting even at MS64 possibility just on the chance it will go higher $14.00 well spent if it goes in with some other moderns.
Out of mint bag-- Looked at it carefully under magnification. Looks really nice. Close between 64 and 65. On its way to NGC with a friend who works for them this Morning. FYI, my friend says "nice 65, with a slight rim nick that should not affect grade--bag mark." We shall see.
