First post but I have ben following for about 3 months.:thumb: Requesting opinions as to the quality of this coin. Thanks in advance!!
How much were you trying to get for that? It's in not great shape for a relatively common date. I'd put it around 6/8 for a grade, which would translate to ~$5 full retail sticker price. I would actually consider that as a throw in to a "melt value" roll if I needed to finish one, personally.
generally use this site to get a good idea of grade. Keep in mind that the lowest side grade will be the one assigned. http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/
I was going off articles I read about "double band" on the reverse. I read a 1928-S graded as such was rare. Thus, I loked through my Mercuries and found one with a near double band. I wasn't looking to get much, $3 - $20, but thought it would interest someone on ebay. Oh well, it's the first coin I have tried to sell. I am new to this . . . in the past 3 months my kitchen counter has filled with coins. I have been into colored gems for years and now coins have me.
Each band is to be clearly doubled. Not that there are two bands on the coin. "Near" doesn't qualify your coin.
