They gave the coins BACK to the finder and he then DONATED them to the Museum. That underscores what we were talking about in some other thread on coin movement over boarders.

That was the boader crossing thread, Romania, I believe.

Sometimes when people post here, I have to think twice about what they could possibly mean. Heck, I make lots of mistakes too, but I have that great excuse of not being "at home" when it comes to English. :p

It is probably the automatic spell check

    borders
    boarders

    neither pops the check.

    I don't know, I can't spell so I borrowed.

    board·er 1 (bôrdr, br-)
    n.
    One who boards, especially:
    a. One who pays a stipulated sum in return for regular meals or for meals and lodging.
    b. One who goes on board a vessel as part of an assault or military action: repel all boarders.

I can't spell in English and I'm much worse in German

No big deal; usually I can tell from the context what a word means. In this case it was the combination of the two "varieties" that I found amusing. (And yes, good thing you would have a hard time spotting my typos in German texts, hehe.)

I also like the concept of a rightful finder and the land owner "donating" (or making a permanent loan) to a local museum or exhibition center. This way the coins stay where they were found, and are even displayed ...

FWIW - seems to be a common error. In time it will be boarder.
