World coins so are not my speed, but from time to time I pick them up from various people I encounter. I need some help finding the value of this coin. It almost looks like its made out of silver.
Ok I see a D right about where you say there is one. I am curious what the value is on it. I actually have a bunch of world coins I am looking to sell off at a decent profit when i know what there worth.
I saw it for sale for $4, but I'm not sure when was that was updated last, the site looked kinda old. Probably the melt value.
Ok, forgive the newbieness of this next question but how do i calculate the amount in the coin to the market price right now? I am still extremely newbie but i at least admit it. So if you can help me out there please.
why would anyone want to melt this coin? it is an important part of WW2 numismatic history, curacao coins were always minted in the netherlands except the wartime issues which were minted in the usa, so they appeal to both general collectors and occupation/wartime collectors. it's like someone wanting to melt a 1941 denmark coin which was minted in london for use in the faeroe islands.......
I have one that is 1/4G and one that's 25 cents both 1944. Any information on that? I know this is an old thread
The US mints made circulating Netherlands and Curacao coins then and both types circulated in Curacao. The 1/4 Guilder or 25 cent coin is silver and is worth around $1.40 for the metal.
Interesting that the Dutch tradition of using both a mintmark and a mintmaster sign was sort of continued here. The coins minted in the US in the mid-1940s have either the "D" or the "P", and either an acorn (for the European Netherlands) or a palm tree (for Curaçao and Dutch India). Christian
