Thinking about getting this silver Multi Holder Set I like them and they are unique and limited. Anyone else thinking there is potential?
Hey, I'm sitting here watching you talk to yourself. Don't feel bad. Your walking in my shoes. You and I could start our own club! : ) You had a lot of folks viewing your thread but no takers........that's because everyone is talking to Rachael. It would probably help us if we changed our profile pictures.....you think?
I think multi holders are cool looking, but doesn't this one look an awful lot like the plastic holder it was in from the mint?
Haha, we should start a club for real. I think you picked up on it but yea I was being facetious with my reply. I do think they have potential but I really have no idea nor was I really looking for confirmation. That was just my way of coping with the loneliness in this thread. A little but in the multi-holder they are TPG graded and slabbed. They do look nice. Anything can happen with these as far as value but I can also see the possible problem of collectors not trusting that each coin is the same grade.
I like them personally and have a set of Sac's in one. The issue is storage. When you have so many different coins in different holders or sets makes it hard to find a home for them with slabs raw coins etc....
NGC used to have a multi-holder, too. They discontinued it, though. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/does-ngc-still-do-this-for-world-coin-mint-sets.269827/
Concerning Multi Holder Sets,I think they work well with annual multi coin programs and for what it's worth I recently bought a 2015 NGC Multi Coin Presidential Set from someone on ebay. So I think NGC may still be utilizing this layout for certain sets.
I always like them but unfortunately resale is lower on these I think people want to be able to buy one coin at a time I think they look neat stacked up together too
For display purposes they're actually pretty neat. As far as keeping them and collectability, I think they are more novelty than anything else. But back to my first point, if all you're looking to do is show them off, then I think they show well.
So did PCGS, years before NGC did (PCGS officially stopped making multi-coin holders in 2004). Officially neither company now produces multi-coin holders. Yet sets still keep appearing in holders from both companies with dates AFTER they discontinued them. It's basically another case of the companies lying to us and playing favorites with certain submitters. WE can't submit and get multi-coin holders because they don't make them anymore, but someone else CAN.
