Well here are three of the notes that I picked up this last weekend. Nothing like what some post here but a start and nice notes overall. The great thing is I must have hit them at a weak moment because I got them cheap.
Here is the Canadian note my wife purchased. Her first purchase. Actually had a chance to look at quite a bit of Canadian notes and they are stunning works of art. Actually got to see first hand what Rickie meant by the devils face in the Queens hair.
I love that silver cert star, and yes the $10 too The reverse vingette on that canada note is really cool! its amazing what some countries will put on their notes. We shoudl bring some of their artists to the US! then again .. if the folks who choose the coin designs have any say in the note designs, they would be quite ugly
Nice pickups, Congrats. The Canadian is splendid as well! In your first pic, it looks like the back is on the face as well. Is it?
No its not on the face I think it is just showing through due to the scanner. Probably wouldn't happen if they were photos. I agree Daggar the artwork on the back of some of foreign paper is just that. Actually I might start collecting Canadian paper do to the spectacular vingettes. Do you know of a good book in regards to Canadian notes?
unfortunately i do not. I think Snaz is big into Canada stuff... might be he is just into the coins, but maybe check with him?! Whats that book for Canada coins, is it the Charlton? There is a book published in 1963, Standard Catalog of Canadian Coins, Tokens and Paper Money, that covers paper money up until that time. I dont know if there is a newer book.
I have the "Charlton Standard Catalogue: Canadian Government Paper Money" (21st Edition 2009) by R.J. Graham. It is a great book, lots of info on the notes, serials, runs, etc. I would definately recommend that! Good luck!
Thanks North49 I will have to pick that one up. Shouldn't be to hard as Canada is only 15 miles away and Iam there all the time. I will have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation
Fantastic!! That is an awsome start to your collection. The 1934 Silver Cert $10 is nice and the Canadian note is excellent as well! Keep up the good work..... Regards, SGR
