In honor of Doug's great article on Ducats, I am posting a photo of my newest coin. It is one which I think is of his favorite Series ... The Netherland Ducat!!! This one graded NGC MS-61!! Doug is the person who got me started with World Gold Coins:hail:
I am always impressed with Doug. He was one of the first posters to talk to me on world gold when I first came here and I have been learning from him ever since.
Doug,did you know that Czechoslovakia also had Ducats as well? The plural is Dukaty & Dukatu in the Czech language. I thought that I had better point this out to you. Aidan.
Doug...Fell off the boat again..here is the 1988 2 Ducat Well I suppose the title says it all huh? I just love these gold coins...I might even try to put together the set..if I can find all of em..I am sure Doug has many hoarded away. Mintage on the 2 Ducat this year 1988 was 24,000. RickieB
Let's not forget the Russian counterfeited Ducats and a short moment of time that the Russians actually copied the designs of the ducats.
