Since I'm having a tough time finding a nice coin in my price range, I'm considering buying a replica to tide me over for a while. Where can I find a cameo proof that looks like the real thing (I don't care if it says "copy" on it)? I've looked at "The Great American Coin Company" ($9.95 + shipping) and "The Maryland Mint" ($24.99), but the pictures don't look right to me.
If you wanted a "realistic" Trade dollar, you should have just kept the one you (hopefully) returned.
Spending $25 for a copy or counterfeit doesn't make much sense to me since a nice Trade dollar isn't a rare coin.
I guess it does if your budget limits you to $25. Probably the best thing to do is try and save the $250 or so to get a decent example. Or just get yourself one of these for $1.90 with free shipping: http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=trade dollar&catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20140115144441
