I want to show my dad's collections of Morgans. He was a collector of them around 40 years ago. Some was stolen and my mom thought she would clean (polish) a few. I want to learn the difference between polished and toned. 15486075656371605823094.jpg

-Cleaning or polishing will significantly decrease value of a coin.
    - I see that the top ones are 1921, a significantly more common year.
    - I do see some O mint marks as well. Branch mints tend to be scarcer.

It's hard to tell from that pile, but the ones that are "shiny" could have been improperly cleaned. Using a 10x loupe, if you see very fine hairlines, they have probably been cleaned. The rest of them have probably darkened from circulation.

Nice pile but tell mom never to clean or polish a coin as is lowers the value.

Spread them out in, maybe, groups of four and post pics, both front and back.

That will give us a chance to really examine the coins, and you will probably get more and better comments.
