    Looking at a 1879s morgan,it doesn't say it is 2nd reverse or 3rd reverse.How do you distinguish the difference in these coins?:)

    Can you post an image?

    Just do a search on EBay for both tne 1879-S reverse of 1878 and the reverse of 1879 and you will find listings/images of each. Check out the difference in tne eagle's breast, in particular.

    PS -a more specific/on point thread topic is likely to result in more help in the future.

    The 79-S Rev of 78 has parallel (to the shaft) arrow feathers, and the Rev of 79 has slanted arrow feathers. This is the easiest way to tell them apart.

    That's the first thing I look for anytime I see a 79s raw.. haven't found any yet but I keep looking...
