Newbie here! I have an 1892 (?circ/unc?) and a 1921 (unc)... are they worth keeping in my collection?
Pictures are always key. That's how you can determine it's grade and thus it's value 1921 is a pretty common date and usually not worth much over melt value (again dependent on grade). I can't speak to the 1892 since I don't care too much for Morgans besides the 1 (1921) I have in my collection. All that being said, I don't see why you wouldn't want to keep them in your collection.
Hey @Sherry3388 Silver dollars are ALWAYS worth keeping. Can you take a picture so we can see what they look like? BTW welcome to CT
I agree. Definitely keepers, though I swear they are one of the UGLIEST designs of that era....I'll patiently wait for everyone to flame me now
BTW, @Sherry3388 if you want to get someone's attention, just use the @ symbol. We have other symbols also
Morgans are the only US coins I have ever made a point of deliberately buying because they keep their value better than most generic silver coins. I say hang on to them.
1921 : It is inside some form of plastic in a large postcard...The U.S. Silver Dollar Collection...First U.S. Unknown Soldier Buried November 11, 1921,, It also has two stamps included. 1892 : It is in a flip...with lettering on it. (I'm not sure what it means. The grading doesn't match. I inherited this collection from my uncle last summer when he passed away. Prior to this inheritance, I was not a collector.) So....I'm new to all of this.
92 a bit better date. I’m at high vf and possibly cleaned. But still a bit better then generic bullion. The 21 is au. And is more a billion based coin. But they both have value
They made 44 million 1921 Morgan Dollars (1878-1904 were the other years). It's not rare. $30 retail. 1892 is a better year much it shows signs of wear. $30 retail. I'd put them away and check again in 10 years.
The 1892 is a desirable $ coin in MS. Which unfortunately yours isn't. The 1921 is extremely common in that shape.
