So I'm over here cataloging and photographing my collection. And I feel like @Collecting Nut because I'm going through a box... in the box are several cac morgans. But I thought I would post the rattlers. I will leave these in these holders no matter what. I won't cross them to cac or anything. I like them as is. Too many holes to count and some will never be filled. But here they are!

Just from the photos I feel some would grade higher but I’m glad to hear you plan on leaving them as is. They are beautiful coins. :)

I agree with your thoughts on these holders....they are classic and represent early days of grading. I wish more folks would leave the older holders as is.

I also have a few of the 2.1 holders. A couple morgans and some other different coins. I know the holders are holders and not coins themselves. But the holders are a part of numismatic history whether some people see them that way or not. I won't pay stupid premiums for them. But I leave them the way they come to me.

For quite a while (and maybe still today) coins in "rattler slabs" were considered better than the labeled grade.
That's a result of the touted "gradeflation" through the years.
It is generally believed grading standards were tougher in the past (the MS-63 of those days is the MS-64 of today).
    Is this true?
    I think "yes".
