Hi I was at a yard sale today and bought a set of morgan mint quarters. it came with a certificate. there are 5 quarters in the lot dated 1776-1976 there are 3 s coins 1 d coin and 1 no mint mark. did i make a good purchase or are they worth just 1.25? any help would be very appreiciated BILL OH YA I PAID 5.00 FOR THEM
Do you enjoy them? If so yes. Value is only a smal part of collecting. If you like what you got, thats the most important thing. BTW You can't go wrong for $5.00
You CAN go wrong for $5, if the same items can be bought elsewhere for 50% or less of that price. And you could still "like what you got", just at a lower price. I don't know that such is the case, but it seems possible.
Well you didn't buy anything rare to the best of my knowledge. For $5 you did okay, only if you are pleased with the purchase.
I have a question, were the Morgan mint quarters different from the US mint quarters (the drummer boy)? I agree with both the statements, that for 5$ you cant go wrong, and for 5$ you can go wrong. Depending on your collection goals.
I think you did fine...unless the coins have been cleaned. I assume the Morgan Mint assembled a set of Bicentennial quarters and put them in a holder and sold them for way more than they are worth. But, for $5 at a garage sale...I'm sure you did fine. If that is a complete set, two of those S mint coins could be 40% silver.
That's what it sounds like, a complete set of Bicentennial quarter P&D Unc clad, S Proof clad, S 40% silver unc, and S 40% silver proof. Sounds like a good deal for $5, and it's probably a lot less than what they paid the Morgan Mint for them.
