I have a few unslabbed ones that I would like to grade, I would show pics but I forgot how to (lol) But what is the wear/luster left for VG-MS morgans? Most of mine are F-MS

Coins= 1896 P with a few dinks, very little wear, some luster
1891 P with some hair/eagle breast wear, fairly dirty spots on it
1921 D, P, and S, all with dinks but no real wear on them (MS 60 maybe?)
1889 P with luster still left, slight cheek wear
1883 S with hair wear, cheek/below eye wear, breast and wing wear, no dinks, a deep grey color
1883 P With some dinks, cleaned I think, not much wear
1897 P Hair wear, cheek, breast were, a dink on the rim, and a few minor scratches

This is a good reason on why to get a grading book...I was in your shoes once and thought grading would be hard and I didn't want to do it...now its some much fun and ads lots more fun into the hobby!

There is no luster on a VG coin...I wouldn't look for any luster untill (I think I'm right here) the XF45 grade....then in AU there should be more...and in MS...there should be luster..

As for the grades...some of the photos aren't here...you have a scan of the front of some and not the back??....

When posting pics for grading estimates you would be better off to post 1 pic at a time and enlarge the pic. Grading based on pics is difficult at best, but when using small or out of focus pics it's almost impossible. The following are my estimates based on what I can see in the pics you have.

    1896 - XF

    1891 - VF

    1921 - VF

    1888 - AU

    1889 - VF

    1921 - VF - F - VG

So would I - assuming it is the last 1921 you have pictured. I revise my estimate to F for that coin.

    And I missed 2 of them - 1897 VF - 1891 VF.

All the 1921s have no wear; nearly all 1921s are lightly struck and look worn but its not

    With that I would disagree.

    I disagree with that 100%....
I'm not sure because of the scan but I have a feeling that some of the 1921 Morgans have been cleaned...

They are pretty nice coins. But I agree with the comment above that from the scans, none appear to be uncirculated. I haven't yet developed the ability to detect cleaning unless it is very harsh so I don't know about that.

Hey GDJMSP---on the bottom row of the scan...there is 3 1921 Morgans...from Right -Left it would eb #2 and #3...is it just the scan washing out some luster or have they been lightly cleaned??

I would say they have likely been dipped at one time or another yes.
