Its just in to good of condition to expect it not be fake. I picked this one up for next to nothing.
The older gentleman I purchased it from, stated he bought it out of a trinket can at a Gun Show, in Richmond VA during the early 60's.
The white specs cannot be seen by eyeballing it, I suspect that it is from pulling it out of the 2x2. 006.jpg 005.jpg

Is there any evidence of a seam on the edge?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

There is no "likely" about that fake.

And condition is not the indicator - the obviously pimpled surfaces from casting are.

I worked in a foundry and you would be surprised at what we would push into the drag mold then have the cope mold over it - made some pretty good copies of coins and medals but yes - ALWAYS a porous surface no matter how tight the sand was tightened up by binders. Stamped coin surfaces are nice and "smooth?" from the pressure on the planchets/blanks as the metal flows across the dies to form the highlights (raised sections of the coin/medal)!!

Been collecting colonials for over 40 years, and yes this one is an obvious fake. I sometimes like to point out ways people can make there own determination.
