Just out of curiousity: I'm very interested in history. How bout you guys? I would think a pretty large percent of coin collectors are. also: Is it just me, or are all the tv shopping networks absolutely insane, dillusional, and outrageous in the high pricing of their coins? If anyone takes the time to answer my dumb questions: right on. -A.E.L.
First, there's no question that is "dumb". I think coin collection and having an interest in history goes hand in hand. You can't help but think when your holding an old coin in your hand what events might have happened the same year the coin was made or how many hands that coin may have gone through if its a circulated coin and who those people may have been. An 1860 Indian Head cent may have been in a Civil War soldiers pocket and so forth. Thats the things I think about when I tie history and coin collecting together and, of course, I too am a history buff.
Don't know about the TV shopping, but there's something almost magical sometimes when we travel in time and space with some old coins, witnesses of history and sometimes relating specific events, peoples, etc... I was not really interested in history from the beginning, but the more I read things about coins, the more my interest and fascination about history develops. hya: Max
Those TV shopping programs have brought many of us here. Like it or not. Likely most of of us are happy to be here.
I don't follow. How did the tv shopping programs bring many of us here? Anyway, thanks for your responses folks.
Because people come here to ask questions about them just like you did - The answer of course is a resounding - YES !
