They seem like reasonable changes to me.
In particular, threat of negative feedback shouldn't be used as a weapon to gain concessions. In this forum I've heard other CT members acknowledge letting something slide even when they were in the right just because it wasn't worth getting negative feedback by standing their ground. If people risked being kicked out of ebay, they wouldn't use tactics like that.

I can see why they implimented hiding the bidders IDs, but I can see shill bidding potentially becoming a problem.

I think this just happened to me last night.

I was outbid with 2 seconds to go. Next morning same item shows up again from the same seller with exact same photo, exact same description, etc. etc. and after there was only supposed to be one avail. I emailed him and he said that when he found out how high the bidding went, he went right out and bought another one and if this one went as high he was going to get another one. This is on a rare, out-of-print item that is almost impossible to find, even on ebay or any website and according to him he just ran to the store and picked up another copy. I figured that either he is bidding on his own auction or he is making bootleg copies and selling tham as originals.

Report it to ebay sayiny pretty much the same thing you just said. The will be able to tell if hes shill bidding. My guess is he has done it before and chances are he has used the same account to do it. The IP or the two accounts shipping / billing info is all Ebay will need to tell if he shill bids. Report him and Im betting if hes up to no good he will be gone with in a few days.

    Yeah, report him Steve.

If enough people complain about this sort of thing, hopefully eBay will change this new policy on hidding bidder IDs... Hey, a guy can dream! :)

But ultimately, if a seller wants to shill and he's smart about it, there's not much anyone can do about it. It's easy to open a new eBay account, build up some feedback, and fake an IP address.

Strange. The listing seems to have vanished. Maybe my email scared him a bit and since there were no bids yet he just pulled the auction. I know it was close to ending when I checked earlier and hadn't received any bids which seemed strange since the original listing had received 16 bids. Evidently the previous bidders also caught onto his little scam. I noticed that neither it or the previous auction appear in the completed auctions listings even though the original clearly ended with a winning bid. Hmm.

I would still report it. Great catch and a good eye. It might just be he has a cpl real raritys available, it happens on occasion, but if it is a pattern, it will be noticed...
