Well guys, never seen a machine doubling around 1/3 the feature figure. Can also see on some of the letters too. Couldn't find any pics at Variety Vista. I've seen some pretty sparse doubling of these 2005's on U-tube. I found 2 others but not as pronounced as this coin.Any thoughts?
What coin is that? All I see is its atoms What is u tube? I hope not youtube because they are a fountain of misinformation
This is a 2005 United States of America, Westward Journeys, Jefferson five cent piece. The area of concern would be West of the tail and leg, and North of the rump and back. The "misinformation" on youtube I observed was provided by Coin Opp. Saw a vid from Dustin on doubling of nickels and what he said were attributed strikes. A few seemed pretty marginal. Much like what is referred to here as machine doubling. I was just wondering if anyone had any further information on Doubled Died 2005 Buffalo nickels. I haven't seen much.
To be fair there is an awful lot of bad to downright dangerous information spewed on YouTube, and is why most here recommend those new to the hobby avoid it, at least until able to separate the wheat from the chaff. This isn't something that plagues only the smaller channels, but at least a few more popular channels as well. That said, perhaps it would be helpful if you were to share the referenced link.
I have almost a full roll of this exact "error" and am waiting on the attribution gods to recognize it. I don't see from your pics a die chip on the designer's initials as most of mine have? Do yours have this or not? Here is a couple of older pics to compare. DDO yes or no?? by Double Die posted Dec 22, 2017 at 6:28 PM DDO yes or no?? by Double Die posted Dec 22, 2017 at 6:28 PM
It does have a die chip in the 2nd "N" of the initiales. Look closely at the up-stroke of the N under the front hoof.
