Just got these puppies today. Please help me decipher these, ancient coin pros! Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The first is a follis of Constantine the Great, IOVI CONSERVATORI reverse type. Second is Constans, GLORIA EXERCITVS type, two soldiers, one standard.
Third is Constantine II, campgate reverse, PROVIDENCIAE CAESS. You're holding the reverse upside down. Fourth is Constantius II, GLORIA EXERCITVS, two soldiers, two standards.
Obverse legend is clipped on coin 5, but I think it's Constantius II, VOT XX MVLT XXX. Last is Constantius II, falling horseman type, FEL TEMP REPARATIO.
Thanks for posting the cool batch of coins. You have a neat little type set of different reverses going-on with this batch. Like chrsmat71 and RaceBannon, I too like the campgate. If you study the letters at the bottom of each reverse (the letters in exergue), then you might determine where each coin was minted. I can't conveniently read the letters in your photos. The letters may begin with something like SM which is sacred money. The next 1-2 letters may define the mint city and the last letter may define the particular office at the mint.
You guys are simply awesome. Yes I'm sure they are common little coins.. Lol i like them because of the age. Thanks for all of your help and input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
