Here is a little pic of some of the notes that I just inherited from my Grandfather from KY...I posted a pic about a week of just 3 of them asking what they were...but I finally got the time to purchase a little book called the "BlackBook" to see exactly what he left me. I really don't much about him...I live in Maine and never really met him personally...but I guess he caught wind that I collect coins so he left them to me...too bad I didn't get a chance to chat with him :( .

Supadave_1,there is a very interesting $10 Silver Certificate of the late 1880's which is affectionately known as the 'Tombstone' banknote,as it depicts a portrait of a Vice-President of America in a frame that is shaped like a headstone on a grave, which is where
the nickname 'Tombstone note' comes from. That is a very scarce note.I am sure that a collector of American banknotes will be more
than able to assist you there.

Thanks...the most impressive one is the 1862 Green $100 note...the above pic really doesn't show it too well...but it is underneath the $20.00 1929 Federal Reserve Note. I've been offered 5 figures for that one alone...but I declined. Any ideas on what the total above group would cost now adays to acquire? I'm guessing quite a bit.

Supadave_1,did you figure out which note was the 'Tombstone note'? It is a $10 with a brown seal.

Oh man. I hope you keep those bills and keep them well perserve but most of all I hope you will research them all and then have the pleasure of sharing all of that history to your grandsons or daughters of the future.

This note is my most valuable note, heck, prolly the most valuable piece in both my coin and bill collection. Mine is a friedberg 293 in very fine serial #B7065621* . Id post a picture but i am just learning the workings of taking macro pics... although a pic of the bill wouldnt require that..... i just might be able to post one after the weekend...

either way, it took me almost 6 months of searching to find one that i could afford.... you dont see too many of these around... not even on Ebay!

Wow, I think based on the auction above, I would have sold it for 5 figures, but then again, I know nothing about bills. you have a lot of interesting bills. : )
