2000 Jefferson nickel i found. On the right side on the top of the Monticetop, looks like smoke lines. But its an Dd. So cool it like an chimney lol. Check it out. Dd?
I assume you mean a doubled die, but I can't figure out why. You'll need to post a better close-up. Chris
I will try. The 2nd pic i was trying to show the ridges going up and the extra below it. I dont know why you guys cant see my pics. And a enhanced object on my camera lol. How do you put pictures on here.
Actually, it looks like a scrape of some sort to me. You need to use better lighting. It's better to have at least two light sources positioned at about 10 & 2 o'clock at a 45 degree angle to the subject. So, when you position your camera directly overhead the subject, light will bounce away from the lens. Once you've taken the photo, you need to crop out all of the extraneous background and resize the image. Then when you are ready to post the image here, be sure to use "Full Image" rather than "Thumbnail". I don't know why CT doesn't get rid of the "Thumbnail" option. It's stupid and wastes time. Chris
Man i wish you could see it now awesome. Have extra material on top really. Im going to coin shop also. Thanks again
Took the coin into two coin shops and they were amaze. Told me to send it in. It not Damage. And yes it looks like smoke coming from Monticello. Awesome find both said. Wow
Hey Chris, I took the coin to 2 different shops and they were amaze. Its real. One guy jump on his computer looking for something similar. Told me to send it in. I will as soon as i can. Thank you for being so nice.
That's the thing about so many errors. They are one-of-a-kind, so it isn't uncommon for an error to go unnoticed. Be sure to keep us posted when you get it back. I'd like to know what it is. Chris
Keep in mind that just because they are Coin Shop owners that they may not necessarily know what Mint Errors are. If one needed to look at the computer websites to see what it could be that is evidence that he has no knowledge. Could be a simple Planchet Flaw or even a kind of Clash. Nothing worth sending to a Third Party Grader. Especially in the condition it is in... That issue has nothing to do with a Doubled Die
Oh, I wasn't suggesting that you send it to one of the grading services. It would probably cost more than the coin would be worth. I thought you meant that you would send it to one of the error reference sites for attribution. It's much, much cheaper. Chris
I have a nickel that has a "smoke stack" in the same area. Mine is a die clash, it's the pony tail of the obverse.
Also, I have seen the same die clash but with the entire head visible, going for $15 which wouldn't be worth sending it for grading at those costs..Just my opinion.
