I am new to this thread and I collect the old commemorative s. I just bought this coin and was hoping some of you would comment on the toning. I tend to buy coins based on how they look to me, and I like the look of this coin. I feel the tone is real, but i have been wrong before...
It looks original to me. I see nothing to make make me feel it's artificial. The obverse is a bit spotty, and therefore unattractive to me personally, but not artificial.
Underneath all that spoting looks like some nice toning. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have seen quite a few of these and it seems like they all had dull luster to them. But just when I say that someone on there will throw one up with gorgeous luster. The few that I have owned I have seen some horrible toning as well.
Looks natural to me. I have seen quite a few of them with about the same toning when I use to be on ebay alot. Very nice coins
Not a bad coin and looks natural, but it is unattractive to my eye. With these commemoratives, you can afford to be VERY picky. They come quite nice, and with some patience you can find a superb example. Respectfully and honestly submitted...Mike
I agree. Take your time and should be able to find a nice, attractive example for the same price or only a few dollars more.
