You guys got pre-decimal New Zealand pretty well covered in Siberian Man's thread and anything I add would just be a duplicate. But New Zealand is one of my focus countries, so I wanted to share some you may not have seen. These next several posts are all dollar coins. They are the size of an American Ike dollar and very cool in my opinion. The other side is all the same and I didn't scan that to save time. I have some other years too, but these are the ones that are different. Many in the 70s are the same design. I still need some from the 80s, but my goal is to get a full set. Many are low mintage though. Here is the 1967, 1969 and 1970.
1985, 86 and 92. Sometime in the late 80s or possibly 1990 they changed the style to the smaller coin. Most of those minted after that were only in sets I believe and tend to be costly. The 92 I bought from a seller in New Zealand, which I don't usually do.
Nice coins. I'm surprised you posted as many. Knowing, as much as I do, that you find scanning tedious.
It's easier when you don't do both sides. I've been gathering these for awhile and wanted to share them, so it was worth it. And it was something to do while watching baseball.
I don't mean to be a wet rag or anything, but you should have titled this post as, "New Zealand Decimal Coinage" or an "exploratory visual soldering of the non circulating numismatic paraphernalia coinage of the great state of New Zealand." Thus in turn, you could have "crossed format focused" any outward inclinations toward such coinage and been more "proactive" in your numismatic associations as to it's purpose as you had presupposed the intellectual varsity of those who might find your coinage enlightening yet of little or no value, notwithstanding the obvious crown size implications, to direct them into a self-referential medium based on the current observation of those that are not inclined to view such coinage with any regard, but which we value highly due to it's low financial implications upon our overall indebtedness. Am I making myself clear? :foot-mouth:
When I try to get it published in a scholarly journal, you're definitely the guy I'll turn to for help, jlblonde.
