Good eve, I am curious if folks here thing that the following are worth purchasing as issued since all three have coins that were available only within the sets themselves? I've priced the said items as both raw and certified and it would appear that since the special coins are grading (based on pcgs and ngc comments) 65 or better it would be better getting them as issued for roughly the same as the single graded coin. 1997 Botanic Garden Coin & Currency Set 1993 Jefferson 250th Anniversary Coin & Currency Set 1998 Robert F Kennedy 2 Piece Dollar and JFK Matte Half Thanks in advance
I've always been a big fan of OGP (original government packaging). I like the original look and packaging. Don't get too caught up with the hair splitting contest regarding grading establishments. My humble opinion folks......
Not so much caught up in the grading contest per-say. I was just thinking that it might be a better purchase to acquire the sets as issued getting more for the price and if something looks like a good grade then so much the better..... The Jefferson set I will get as those are priced good as the issued set.
I always try to get the most for my dollar as possible. Though with silver bouncing up as it has I suppose I need to bite the bullet and get them sooner rather than later. Thanks for the comments~
I bought 4 of the 1998-S Kennedy SMS, PCGS MS69 about 6 years ago when the price was floating around $280. You probably could get a better price by buying the pair in the OGP, but personally, I don't care for the Bobby Kennedy half dollar. Chris
That is a very nice image indeed. I like the sms version more so than the standard proof or unc. versions of the half dollar. There is something about that satin look that I like very much both on the half and especially on the Jefferson nickles. I agree the pricing seems better on the OGP than trying to get the half by itself...
