This coin was passed down from my grandfather and I was doing some research on if this coin was high relief or low relief (still unsure). While looking around at the pictures I saw that my coin had a variation in the design of the rays on the front. If you look under the eagles beak it has an obscure ray that goes at a different angle than the rest. Is this a known error of some sort?
It's called, "Clash Spikes Eagle’s Shoulder". You can look up at vamworld.com and find which right VAM number for your coin. edit: Since I can't see more closer to the coin, but it may be a "Long Spike Eagle's shoulder."
Checked on the Vamworld site and it does look similar to the long spike eagle, thanks! Is there any demand for VAM coins, and is there a way to get it officially VAM classified by someone (i.e sending it in for grading).
Half of people in this forum will stated that finding and assign VAM on each coin is wasting of time and less desirable, but only if it's a VAM from top 50 list in vamworld then it's worth something. Another half of people in this forum like me actually research and assigned correct VAM on each coin. IMO, it's fun. Since it's not one of top 50 listing in vamworld. I would recommend you to use ANACS as only grading company will attribute almost any VAM on coins. You will need to pay $5-$10 for variety attribute. Good luck.
