Hello all, n00b to the forum. Was searching through my change for laundry cash and came across this 2001 North Carolina quarter. I don't expect it to be worth much; it's in somewhat poor condition, as it was circulated, but I'm hoping for a cup of coffee. Attached you'll find two scans of the coin. Any appraisals would be greatly appreciated. (My apologies ahead of time if the quality of the scans came out poor.) Thanks for your time! JmC
PRAETOR1AN : 1) welcome to the forum. 2) yes it is worth more than a cup of coffee. 3) it is hard to see the grade on the scan, but I would keep it.
i would say no - its worth only a quarter. i dont thinks its offset enough to command much of a premium. But i would still keep it, just because its different.
You'd be amazed at how much that coin would fetch on eBay. (I know I am). It's definitely worth more than a cup of coffee retail, but sometimes it's hard to find a dealer that would give you much for it.
to CoinTalk JmC. Using calipers to measure the full diameter and the offset, as displayed on my monitor, I come up with an offset of a tad over 6%, which isn't really enough for a significant premium. Combine that with a pretty beat up appearance - at least in the pictures - and it probably depends on where you buy your coffee whether or not it would cover the cost.
Nice find! eBay is definitely the place to use if you want to sell it. It's offset enough to get a decent premium (at least on ebay).
