I have a penny that is missing a Number it states 19 9 looks like there could be enough room for a 1 but it's not there. It's not like the number on the penny is scratched off or marked up so you can't tell what it is...it's just that the penny is totally missing the number. Anyone think this could be worth any $$$? ethan
Does it have The memorial on the back or wheat ears? No idea if it is worth any premium, a picture would help us tell if it is worn or struck through grease or something of the sort.
I will have to get my camera from work but it is a Wheat penny in really good shape, though it does not have a minting mark on it so I'm not sure where it was minted. ethan
No mint mark means it was minted in Philadelphia; if my memory serves me correctly they starting putting P for Philadelphia on the war nickels, to signal the silver content. Though the mint mark could have been rubbed off, especially if the number was. As for it being a wheat penny that is a good sign, as to what number could fit in there, we'll have to wait for those pics; nice find by the way!
