This 1973 penny is missing the letter E of E pluribus unum and the top part of the second T of STATES, what's going on with it
Worn Die. Struck through grease. Greaser. Compacted grease on those letters on the Die did not allow it to be formed properly when the blank was struck.
That's a known bad spot for weak letters due to the overall design. Add grease and or debris and worn dies and it's common.
I just noticed the A in America looks like a line on the right side or is it lighting playing tricks on my eyes
