    texmech Wanna be coin collector

I have not made many post in the last few months, been so busy with the job and other things. My coin hobby got put on the back burner. Kind of lost that bug. Any of you ever have that happen?

Anyway tomorrow I think I will go to my local dealer and make some purchases.

No matter how long between purchases I always have my coin albums to look at. After all some of these coins are over 100 years old, so I guess they can wait for me.

That happens to me all the time. I get the bug and go crazy buying stuff, then the bug goes away. This forum and ebay has made me want to hang around a while younger than I normally would have.

Yes, for a few months I wasn't really active here, and I lost ALL interest in coins.
Of course, I tried to look at my coins every once in a while, but just didn't have that fire.
I started to get some of the flame back just by starting to post here more and more, and by making myself post, I got the interest back.

It is just hard to post with school, and medical problems. At least now it is summer, and a dislocated knee, and a probably torn ACL is keeping me in this bed, so I got all day to post. :)

    Glad to see ya back!

    Glad to see you back.

I have several hobbies, and it's easy to lose the passion every once in awhile. Different things happen in life and lead you away. But, if it's a true passion, you'll always find your way back.

    Tex-
I think you should get of the hobby altogether and send me your collection. :D

    Welcome back.

I began collecting coins in 1964, when I got a Whitman Lincoln cent holder for Christmas.

Since then, I began and stopped collecting coins several times, and also began collecting British empire stamps, small size US currency, Chinese stamps, large sized US currency, German stamps, food stamps, savings bonds, pre-WWII European currency, and so on and so on.

Last month, I began collecting cents again.

TJ, It's a good thing you came back to your cents-es.
I too could collect most anything appealing and find I must resist such an urge.

Coin collecting has been my passion for 45 years along with collecting rare and early newspapers for much of that time.

I also have a 28' Chevrolet truck and 79' Trans-Am I've been slowly restoring for 10 years now. And then there are the old tube radios I restore when I'm burned out on those.

Numismatics and history have always remained at my center though.

I love when I really get a burn going and I'm bidding on coins and reading everything I can get my hands on.

Of course this has all revolved around raising three kids through college and getting them married off. (Thank God) If you considered that a hobby than I've had the fever (sometimes flu-like) for more than thirty years now!

yep, the bug is in remission right now, except I keep looking for the next coin that I want to get, so far I have not gotten to the point where I say, I want THAT coin, (or one like it), so in the meanwhile I will keep looking here for what other collectors are enjoying, and saving up some cash so when I do find THE COIN, I will be able to get it when I see it.

  12. Welcome back! I cannot get rid of that bug and may need an exterminator. Let us know what you get at the dealer. :) TC

Now I'm wondering if everyone goes thru those faces where you kinda lose the interest and then get back again? :goof:
I know I have kind of gone away at times and not post, buy coins, or even open my binders to look at my coins. Then, I just open one of my Danscos and I'm hooked again!:hail:

It has been a year or so since I did any collecting, just to many other things going on in my life. I do however from time to time look at my collection and think about working on it.

Yeah. I put it aside in 1974. Then I inherited a bunch of stuff from my mom in 2002 that I didn't even look at. Now is the time to see what's there.

I got started after my wife got sick and was at home a lot, she died in march and now I do nothing with all these coins. I'll get started again here shortly because my brother just gave me his collection filling two flat rate usps boxes. ye-haw
