I am not a collector of error coins but received this dime in change and wondered if it is in fact a missing clad layer 1981 d Roosevelt dime.
Looks like a chemical or acid got to that dime almost rustic and see what looks like pliers have got a hold on it just my thought
@Jeffjay …what does it weigh? A Roosevelt dime from 1981 weighs 2.27 grams intact. If it is missing a clad layer the weight would be reduced nearly one-third to 1.51 grams. It honestly looks like environmentally damaged…imo…Spark
Environmental damage unfortunately. Poor dime spent some time in substances that didn’t play nice with it.
