I know that NGC and PCGS will occasionally mislabel coins, but I was wondering
if they would mislabel 1965, 1966 and 1967 SMS coins as MS or MS as SMS.

    I'm sure it's happened.

If they mislabel "PR" coins as "MS" coins - Which I've seen - I'm sure they do the same with "SMS" coins to "MS", or vice versa.

I'm sure it's possible. But with those coins (meaning SMS coins) it's even worse. There have been cases where SMS coins were mis-attributed as actually being MS coins, and cases where MS coins have been mis-attributed as actually being SMS coins.

In other words it was NOT a label mistake.

I actually did mean to say mis-attributed. Thanks.

PCGS now attributes SMS coins as SP instead of SMS, not sure why they changed it though

Same reason they use DCAM where NGC uses UCAM - just to be different from NGC.
