Just picked this up off of eBay. I found it interesting since I believed it to be misattributed, since Kärnten is located in southern Austria and in 1515 was part of the Habsburg empire. However, after further research, I still haven't been able to completely identify the coin. The closest I've come on Numista is this, but it doesn't match up right. The coat of arms on the reverse of my coin is a mirror image (and has an eagle instead of three lions) of the Numista one. Any ideas or help further identifying this coin? Thank you!
Holy Roman Empire Duchy Of Carinthia 1/2 batzen 1515 Maximilian I 1490-1519 St. Veit mint Wolfrans Schulten no. 3985 is cited on different post as a reference. Both your coin and the Numista variety are pictured and available for sale on the internet. All the 1515 versions I have seen are like your coin. The coin was issued for four years and Schulten indicates varieties exist. I enjoyed researching it. I hope it helps.
