Hi guys, let me just start by saying these pictures do not give this coin credit. It has much better detail than what the photo's show. I put my jewelers loupe under my phone camera to get the picture because this coin is just so small at 7mm in diameter. It is in need of further cleaning but I can already make out the wolf on one side, and some sort of eye shaped pattern on the other. Does anyone have any idea what type of coin this is? I just find it so interesting that people actually used something so small (insert penis joke here).

    Thanks, :)

If its thin, it could be an AE5 from late rome. I kind of like these, since you can find some scarce emperors in these small coins. A 7 would be on the extreme end, with most being slightly larger. I really cannot tell from the photo.

I'd like to help, but I just can't make anything out on that coin.

Its not very thin, its reasonably thick compared to its small diameter

It's probably Greek then. Late Roman flans are generally quite thin.

Thanks guys, i'll have to leave it to soak in distilled water for another few months and hopefully I can get some more detail. :)
