Hello, Recently bought a 2/3 Thaler of Frederick III of Brandenburg from 1693. See attached images. Shows a mintmark "WH", but my Standard Catalog of World Coins 1601-1700 doesn't show WH--though it does show a whole list of other mint masters' marks. I know my coin is not the only one, there are others on sale in the internet with mintmark WH. Anybody know what these initials stand for?

The references I found list Brandenburg Thalers and fractions thereof with the initials WH as being minted in Emmerich. So my guess is that the initials refer not to the mintmaster but to the mint.

Right you are, or mostly. With your reference to Emmerich, I went back to my World Coins and found Emmerich - "see Cleves", and under Cleves WH is listed as "Seger Wendel (warden) and ? Hoyer, mintmaster in Emmerich", although the WH mark seems to have been used before by a number of wardens whose names began with W, and a series of mintmasters name Hoyer. So essentially you are right, WH just means Emmerich. Thanks for the tip.
