mintmark opinions

    just got these 2 coins an working on attribution an would like opinions on these mintmarks, the first 1 is "SMN" but not sure on last letter "A" maybe? the second looks like "epsilon(E) SIS" but i dont know the fourth character, what do ya think? thanks

    Alpha and delta are often hard to separate. Look in RIC to be sure both are possibilities for a specific issue and then guess or compare to other coins.


    The last letter is a local alphabet equivalent of the B denoting the officina. Other shops of the series will show a different letter.

    There are rare examples where the letter is large and in the field higher up.

    Nice coins, Ken (and Doug) ...

    I have an example as well (somebody from this site had a list of the "symbols" associated with these types, but sadly I can't recall which member it was? ... maybe medoraman, or Ardy?)

    ... anyway ...

    here is my example

    => the symbol on my coin looks kinda like a poorly drawn seagul
