    Hi All,

Does anyone know a good resource for finding mintage numbers/estimates for 16-18th century Talers? I assume many were melted yet I was wondering if there are records from that era.

As an example, I attach the Austrian Ferdinand piece I have.

    Thank you.

I can't help you because my reference materials for European Crowns only goes back to the 1700s but I'm sure someone will come along that can answer your question, if the information is out there. The "DAV-8097" references the works of John S. Davenport, his books do not list mintages.

    But ...

That is a beautiful and high quality example of an Austrian Taler :thumb:

BTW .. Welcome to Cointalk :smile

    Thank you silvereagle82.

Indeed Davenport is the best reference I knowm yet it lacks mintage numbers. I have not been able to identify other sources (KM, auction sites, etc).
