I was going through some LMCs which are still in the mint cello, which have been cut apart from the original set. The first thing i noticed was the toning on the coin...so I picked it up to look closer. Whomever cut this guy away from the set cut a bit too close and actually cut the cello open on one end. It seems like any time i get a cello pack that's been partially cut open it also seem the coins always tone in some manner if they've not been pulled out...

Anyhoo...as I looked further I noticed some shenanigans on the right side rim of the coin...so I decided to pull it out and look at it up close with my loupe. here are some pics for your enjoyment...I wonder what made this damage...was it a mint error or, more likely, the process of putting the coin into the cello pack.

I've got one with the same markings from a mint set, don't recall the date. I'll check on it later. I figured the mint set had just been mishandled, but maybe it was something else.

    bdunnse Who dat?

Looks like the scissors used to cut apart the cello package damaged the obverse, but looks like the cello sealing machine damaged the reverse. Weird. 99% sure it is post-strike damage.

I agree PMD...but not sure if it was scissors that did the obverse damage...If the scissors closed far enough to go from edge to edge I'd expect to see a cut at the starting end and the coin would curl...kinda like those pennies that get cut with the ginsu scissors like below...

(Those those faint of stomach with regard to gratuitous coin damage please look away now!)

the obverse damage is pretty straight across from rim to rim like something with a straight edge came down on it, and there are three parallel lines there.
