Two years ago when first got interested in coins, I purchased a coin collection from a tag sale that contained mint sets from 1948 - 1952 and other nice coins and currency.

Unfortunately, all the card board sleeves the coins came were ripped and damaged. Instead the coins are in individual card flip holders so they would not get damaged.

All the coins are uncirculated, beautiful and have nice color tone to them.

Is there a lot of value lost with out the sleeves the coins came in? Is there still value in the coins from mint sets.

Attached are a few coins. Much nicer in person.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Yeah, those missing cardboard holders may have lost you several thousand dollars. You see, in the original packaging those Mint Sets are downright pricey. But the very same coins in 2x2s, are often not pricey at all.

Hopefully, you still have those original holders.

The same scenario applies to many collectibles . Books without their original dust jacket covers also bring less than those with the original jackets.

That quarter is beautiful! As are all the coins but as I am trying to put together a birth year set for my mom I like the 1950 in particular, plus I bet it looks a lot better in person! edited

Not just the silver coins have toned nice but even the nickels and pennies have beautiful colors. The nickels almost are blue in tone. I understand value was lost regarding the mint sleeves but life goes on. I still enjoy looking at them.
