Hey guys, this is an LP1 from circulation. Can anyone tell me if this is a die crack, or if it's just post mint damage? To me, it looks like the grain (polish marks?) run through the crack, which to me indicates the crack was there before for polishing occurred? I have no experience with this, so any opinions would be appreciated. -LTB
I am no expert either, but if it is a die crack, it will stick up above the surfaces. Yours looks like it is indented to me. However, I would guess that it is a planchet flaw. No for sure, but that is my guess.
I agree with rlm. A die crack would be raised on the coin and yours appears to be indented into the coin. Possible planchet flaw of some sort. Maybe the planchet had a deep scratch before the coin was struck.
I would say those two covered it pretty well... not to get off topic but what do you take your pictures with it amazingly clear
Excellent; thanks for the help guys...I learn something new every day! Kev, I use a Canon Powershot SD790 IS...set on Macro, 10MP. I'm a total novice when it comes to picture taking, but the features on my powershot make it point and shoot. I do need to use better lighting techniques...but like everything else, practice makes perfect. -LTB
