So a while back I posed the question if there were errors/varieties involving the medals the mints put in the sets. It seems there are a few collectors of these but not a lot of errors associated with them. Well for those few and any others who might be curious, I am posting my Philly medal with a well defined (but kinda small) die clash on the wing of the eagle right off the coast of MD & VA of the far right bays of the mint. And on the other side, there are map details showing in the bays of the mint which are recessed and hard to focus for a good pic. I have also found one with a nice die crack on the scales, but have to remember where I put it to post at a later date.
Good eye. They were either able to polish out the eagle on the Philly Mint bldg side, or couldn't polish it out and put a fresh die in. With all of the die polish showing, I am guessing they got most of the eagle out.
