Hello, my husband and I recently started collecting coins and we saw a collection of mints on sale for 150.00 and I was wondering if they are really worth that amount. Thank you for your help. We are really interested in collecting, but we have a lot to learn. 1968 Mint Set 1969 Mint Set 1976 Mint Set 1976 3-Piece Silver Mint Set 1989 Mint Set 1998 Mint Set 2000 Mint Set 2002 Mint Set
I would say that if they are MINT SETS right from the mint they are worth...about $85...but let someone else tell you for sure...I'm not all awake today Speedy
If it's on TV, it is almost ALWAY's too much! I got like $30 in my 1965, 66, and 67 special mint set's. This seller has left out the high dollar set's. I would find a local dealer or hit up fleaBay.
Thank you for replying! Thank you for responding. I was afraid that they weren't worth what they were advertising. They are uncirculated and in the original packaging from the US mint. The set is from TV. (shopathometv.com) I saw them one morning when I couldn't sleep. Thank you again! ~Meesha
As Speedy quoted they souldn't be more than $85.00 for the group 1968 Mint Set $5.50 1969 Mint Set $6.50 1976 Mint Set $10.00 1976 3-Piece Silver Mint Set $18.00 1989 Mint Set $5.50 1998 Mint Set $13.00 2000 Mint Set $13.50 2002 Mint Set $13.00 .
Howdy Meesha - Welcome to the Forum !! If you see a coin or a set of coins advertised on one of the TV shows, you can absolutely count on one thing - it is NOT worth the advertised price. NEVER buy coins from the TV shows ! If you and your husband like collecting coins - stop by here at Coin Talk and ask questions. There are many here that are willing to help and share the knowledge they have obtained over the years. And besides - it's fun
Thank you! Lesson learned. My dad always told me that if it sounded too good to be true, then it is! Here is a question...I noticed that the prices quoted from Bulldawg, for the mint sets, went up the newer they were, why is that? Thank you for sharing your knowledge, all of you. We will probably be asking a lot more questions as our collection grows. ~Meesha
Actually the older ones have increased in value over there issue price. The 2000 and the 2002 have droped from there issue price, when issued they sold for $14.95 ea.
Reference list for proof sets A local dealer has a nice concise and convenient list of proof sets with prices. I use it as a reference frequently. Go to: http://www.millersmint.com/ and click on "proof set" in the left column.
