Ok, so I couldn't resist opening a couple rolls this morning, and was rewarded with a slightly off center 1975.. 3-5% off center? I'm thinking one mans junk is another mans treasure! To most, I guess this would be a spender, but to me it is a treasure and its stuff like this that make the hobby fun for me!!!
Ahh... Extra bonus the die is rotated as well about 30 degrees on the reverse... If it wern't so dang worn... O well...
Blow up the picture, is that also a RPM on the mintmark? I see seperation and am wondering, doesn't look like machine doubling as it doesn't appear anywhere else... Whatcha think?
Ok I attributed to soon... This is not a off center strike, I now believe this to be a Offset Die Misalignment... Basically the reverse is centered but the obverse is offset... " This coin exhibits what at first appears to be an off-center strike; however, the opposite side of the coin is in perfect alignment. This error occurs when a die (usually the hammer die, but occasionally the anvil die) is offset in any direction. In order for the error to have any significant collector value, it must have a portion of the design missing.Typical examples of this error type will range between 2% to 5% Off. This error is often called a Misaligned Die, or MAD for short." quoted from www.conecaonline.org and their definitions page. Just incase anyone was interested.
