I think those coin are cast coins. I have this coin bought in min mine beging years What are you meaning guys Is this cast then are those 2 coin mine biggest mistake's weight 26.3 34mm Nero weight 25.8 34mm Domitian
Bottom coin I can say is probably OK, not many fakers want to work on putting a patch of green patina on it wth some possible bronze disease at 6 o clock on the obverse. Now tooled? Maybe. Nero, no idea.
I guess I'm with MAT---the Domitian doesn't raise those 'it looks off' instinctual impressions....but the Nero is a scarce, highly desirable type that Bing recently purchased and then discovered through Sears that it was a cast fake---so maybe he can share what Sears said about the one he submitted.. Do you see any edge seams or 'bubbles' on either of them?? The overall wear seems normal to me....so I guess I'm as uncertain as you are 'ro' I can be as fooled as anyone else---maybe more LOL I hope they're legit---they are wonderful looking examples!!!
I guess I'm going to be odd man out. I do not like the looks of the Domitian. The portrait looks off to me. And as far as adding a patch of patina, I think devious fakers will do most anything to make their wares sell. I was fooled enough with the Nero I purchased that I had to send it off to David Sear for authentication. It didn't make muster. But here is the fake I bought:
Thanks, David sear says to me the nero was real only he didin't see the edge Domitan is buy by John jencek auctions Nero by Vcoins dealer Lucernae
I guess then that both are real and you have two genuine beauties!!! I see nothing abnormal on either coins' edges, but I still don't see anything strange about the edges on Bing's Nero either...Lot of help I am LOL
i don't like the look of the edge on the nero, doeslooks like a seam has been filed down? lucernae is a pretty well respected dealer...so i'm probably wrong.
Great there are more fools out there ) No( was just a joke) I bought these when I was young.......all fake...some are very impressive....
