The only DDO I know of for this date ( discovered by Bill O'Rourke) has good doubling on the "GOD WE " part also. Could you check this area to be sure. If not, I would go with MD. Jim
No, I don't see anything and it doesn't look like the known one. I would go with the MD designation at this time. Thanks for going to the trouble of the photos. Jim
Thanks for the credit on the discovery. There are 1972 S proof coin die varieties. This is the only known die variety on 1972 S business strike cents. Since my discovery, I think that only one other has been found. The coin looks like this: Have Fun, Bill
Nice find Bill! I had yet to see that business strike DDO illustrated. One question, isn't it listed as DDO-002 in the CONECA files, not #1? DDO-001 as far as I understand is the proof variety listed in the CPG as 033.7 (101). (Of course I could be misinterpreting the VCR#1/DDO#1 at the bottom.) I also see there is now one other '72S DDO as a class VIII; it must look similar to either '72P DDO-009 or DDO-010. Bill one other thing, I am reasonably certain (from the pics) that your find is from the first master hub, can you confirm that?
I just went to coppercion.com here the Proof DDO. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1972&die_id=1972s1do001p&die_state=mds
LOL, those are pictures Bob took of my coin! Here, I can say anyone still reading this time by posting some pics. (Note: the red color is was from a reflected light experiment I was doing while photographing coins - something I stopped doing.)
The business strike coin pictured in Potter and Allen's , "Strike it Rich With Pocket Change" is my coin. They spelled my name wrong though
