Best check your calendar. The show is from the 21st THURSDAY to the 24th on Sunday at teh Rosemont Convention Center on River Road. Easy to find and tuff to park. If you go there on the Saturday, it wil be the 23rd. It starts on Thursday, at 10AM but that is the Early Bird showing and will cost you $50 so have fun. It is from 10AM to 6PM Fri, Sat and from 10AM to 1PM on Sunday. Parking should still be the same old $11 if not changed from last year unless your lucky enough to park in the L station parking lot a few blocks away. $5 to get in but that is good for Fri and Sat. Sunday is Free but you must pay to park each day. Food is expesive and really bad. I used to park a few blocks South of the place and walk there but health and old age will not permit that any more. Prices of all coins will reflect the necessity of dealers to rent rooms, travel, meals, party time at night, roam the streets of Chicago looking for Al Capone and Elliot Ness.
What I really hate about this show is I live about 4 or 5 miles from the place and have to drive there and pay to park. Of course I'll go anyway due to just being a coin collector.

yeah so i might have got the dates wrong but the days were right and at least it raised some awareness. i live in the burbs but i don't have a car so it doesn't get nay worser or better than that. I will be there on Saturday as Friday i have work and today is Thursday already. If you want to eat i suggest you crossover to one of the hotels across the street their food is good but still expensive. I will have a very small budget to spend so i don't even know if i will get anything. It will be fun though .

I would really like to get up to that show one of these days (about 260 miles for me), but can't do it this year...I'm on limited funds and vacation days at the moment. spock1k, I do hope you have fun though! Please give us a report of what you see and how it went when you get back.

you guys in the midwest and east coast are so lucky. you have coin shows or expos very often. Here in the middle of the Mojave desert, maybe 5 a year. but on the bright side, Carson city is having a big show in august. and i am going. Good luck with you acquisitions.

    craig a,

Have you ever been to Sahara Coins in Vegas? I have been there a few times, but I was in Vegas a couple of months ago and they were just, plain RUDE! I was wondering as I left in disbelief whether or not the shop had been sold or something. I'll never return.

To stay on topic...I live in Chicago and can't make it out to Rosemont for the show this weekend. I'm hoping to make it to Milwaukee for tha ANA show.

So here is the report on the coin show. A total waste of time. Most of the coins were overpriced. I donrt if the dealers were in a bad mood but most were rude. I didnt know of rude dealers till i went to this coin show. Most of the coins were also of poor quality. having said that i was able to buy one bank note and one 1994 dollar and i actually had to pay the dealer more than his ask price for him to part with it. Well i can say for sure i am not going to this one again. Anyways i heard they are going to move the location of this coin show next year if thats the case then its goodbye and good riddance. So all of you who couldnt make it u guys didnt miss out on much. Till the next show come us beam me up scotty :D

Told you so, told you so. Most coin shows that are large are like that. Dealers are tired, pay more for the tables, away from thier families, stay at lousy hotels like the one accross the street from that Rosemont show. Food is expensive and not really worth it. Dealers do it all the time so to them it's just a mess unless they make some really big deals. I know a few of the dealers that were there and even they raised their prices to reflect the higher cost of being in that place. I go there to look around but not buy. We have just to many other coins shows that are reasonable, free parking, free admittance, nicer dealers and not to far from my house.

spock1k, I'm sorry to hear that the show was a downer. In situations like this, I always feel that I'm glad to have had the experience anyway.

You've just got to be kidding. Simply type in Illinois Coin Shows in Google and there you will see we have 3 a Month in the Chicago area. And that is every Month come wind, rain, snow, sun, holidays, etc.
Usually the Lamont, Il show is the first Sunday of the Month
Coutryside is the second Sunday of the Month
Itasca is the third Sunday of the Month.
I don't really like Lamont shows.
Itasca coin shows are rather small but the best deals so far.
Countryside coin shows are fairly large and at times get larger. Occationally they are on Saturday and Sunday. I've seen it well over 100 dealers and at times about 50 or so. Many dealers there are constant but also a decent turnover. One dealer is at all three shows all the time and if you get to know him he will go looking for special coins for you and you can chew him down on prices easily.
For addresses, locations, times, etc just go to Illinois Coin shows on Google.
