Looks like damage from the coin roller machine.

I would be more inclined to think this was the result of an aggressive coin roll crimping machine. But wait for those more tuned in to error identification.

Based on those pics I would say PMD (Post Mint Damage) as stated. IMO

You would need to provide better pictures then.

The date and other lettering around the edge is incuse (indented into the coin), so the marks left from the crimping tool looks like it's under the date since it goes between the numbers and not 'on' the numbers, but in reality it is on the surface of the coin not down into the incuse numbers.

@Jesse1967 I do see what looks like a collar clash around the edge from Michigan to EPU. That is an error that I would keep. Not really a premium, but cool to have.

Agree with the collar clash but I still say the line through the date is from the roll crimping machine.

  15. Double Die

Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

Being a die hard Buckeye fan, the error on that coin is that it has *ichigan on it. It needs to be buried in a deep hole like the one in Ann Arbor. O-H...

Im not 100% covinced its the Ring Of Death yet myself. The reason I say this is usually it's not such a fine line as it appears to be in his photo. Most likely it is the ROD but will need better pics!

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

So is that what passes for a "beach vacation spot" in Michigan?

Not sure. But was looking for something better then a guess. Coin puzzled me. No harm k
