I am currently sorting and selling a large collection of coins for a friend of mine. I have discovered a coin that seems to be made out of cardboard. It is marked as follows on the holder. Mexican Revolutionary 1914-1917 R-69 Toluca Any idea what this might be or where I may be able to locate information on it. I will post an image of the coin tomorrow. ClearwaterCoins
according to the standard catalog, Toluca city had a cardboard 5 centavo coin issued in 1915 made out of cardboard, as with most coins from the Mexican Revolution (1910-17) mintages are sketchy, the catalog values range from 15 in vg, to 45 dollars in xf.There are two typesone with a dot after Toluca, one without. The catalog lists no difference in values between the two.
