How much are Mexican 2 peso Gold coins worth?? I have found some for as little as $4.95 to $25.00...Am I right when I think they are restrikes?? So far all I can find are 1945... Thanks for any help Speedy
4.95?! You might want to check to see if those are the actual coin, and not a thin 8k copy. The actual coin melts at around $20.
The 8 Carat copy is a piece of gold junk only good enough as 8 Carat scrap gold.I'd steer very well clear of these, unless you want to buy it for scrap.
ccgnum That was only bid...but that seemed to be what it was going off at.... Aidan I am just looking at them for junk gold....as I don't collect gold it would just be a fun way to get some... Was that the only year they minted them?? Speedy
Speedy,if they are the proper one dated 1945,then they are good enough as gifts. You wouldn't scrap those ones, unless they are very worn.
Speedy - The Mexican gold 2 peso was issued in 1919, 1920, 1944, 1945, 1946 & 1947. They were struck in .900 gold, AGW .0482 oz. From 1951 - 1972 there were about 4.5 million of these re-struck, supposedly dated 1945. Those struck in the 40's ( other than 1945 ) can sell for $50 - $60 in XF. Those struck in the teens are about $25 in XF. Those dated 1945 sell for melt.
