I "accidentally" got this small, crusty silver coin that I think I figured out. Maybe. It seems to be a silver "bugne" issued by Metz by Robert de Leoncourt around 1551, later countermarked with an eagle by Henry Duke of Lorraine in 1621. Apparently the countermark was mostly for Charles III issues, but a few "bugnes" got in the mix. I found a few of them online, but all in French auctions, and my French is nonexistence and Google Translate isn't always useful with numismatic terms, so I'm kind of guessing. If anybody knows anything about this - or can correct my attribution, I'd be delighted. Thank you! Metz AR Bugne Robert de Leoncourt 1551-1555 (cm 1621) S. TEPH - .PROTH.
