Hey CoinTalkers! I'm having a serious issue right now. I bought an MS coin in a 2x2 carboard holder and I wish to transfer it into an Airtite, but I cannot opening the Airtite FOR MY LIFE! I was wondering if there was some "trick" to getting them open. I've had this problem before and I've just gotten lucky by the capsule just coming apart without lifting a finger, but now the one time I NEED to open one I just cannot seem to. If anyone has any ideas they wish to share concerning the subject, please leave a comment below. Thanks for the help, Brian
Hold the capsule up on its edge on the counter or table. Take a knife and carefully insert the edge of the knife into the joint where the two halves of the capsule come together. Twist the knife gently. This will start the capsule opening. Once you have that just use your fingers to open it the rest of the way.
It would also be a good idea to separate the "tops" from the "bottoms" when storing them. When an AirTite is sealed without a coin inside, it creates a partial vacuum which makes it harder to separate them. I use ZipLoc bags to keep them separate. Chris
I keep them separately secured on a sandwich plastic bag. one on the LEFT top Lid and the bottom on the Right. I put some initial on both plastic bag. To open it I just simply use my finger nail to separate it.
I had the same problems with these as well. This works for me them between your four finger and thumb w/ slight pressure. This wil slightly bow the case allowing your other hand to get your finger nail(on knife) in there to pop it open. works for me~
I use a very sharp pocket knife to get mine open, everyone will always run into that one airtite that doesn't seem to want to come apart.
